BRENNCO HISTORY

Brennco Travel’s history begins in 1985, when Jim Brenneman purchased a one-person corporate Travel Agency called TravCorp. At the time, Jim was running a very successful third-party administration (TPA) insurance agency called Brennco Benefit Administrators, which provided health insurance for small groups and sole proprietors. The Brennco TPA handled sales, underwriting and
claims processing for the insurance plans.

With a national network of insurance agents (at its peak Brennco sold insurance in 48 states), Brennco’s executives, regional managers and distributors were crisscrossing the nation. The purchase of a corporate agency to handle their travel arrangements seemed a natural progression.

Seeing the potential for leisure travel, Brennco quickly expanded from corporate travel into leisure as well. This expansion was accelerated with the 1987 Brennco purchase of Club Costa, a travel club based in Denver. At the time of the purchase of Club Costa, Jon Brenneman was the Marketing Director for the Great American Automobile and Travel Club for the states of Kansas and Missouri.

In February of 1988, Jon joined his father Jim, as the Director of Marketing for Brennco Marketing, the marketing arm of all the Brennco companies. At the time Club Costa was selling annual travel club memberships for $99 a year direct to individuals. Seeing an avenue for quicker growth, Jon developed the concept of selling the travel club memberships through associations for a discounted price and paying a commission back to the association in return for promoting the club.

After recognizing the much greater revenue opportunity in selling travel, the travel club membership concept was transitioned into the current affinity travel partner program through which Brennco assumes the role as the official travel agency for major associations. Today, the majority of our travel sales and revenue comes from association partnerships.

Our first major 100,000-plus member association partner for the affinity travel service benefit was the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) in 1993. Since then, we have worked with other military organizations such as Air Force Association (AFA) and National Military Family Association (NMFA); government organizations such as National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) and professional associations like the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP.)

In the 28 years Brennco has been working with associations, we have worked with a vast array of clients, most notably with the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). We began working with MOAA in 1998 and continue to do so to this day. To date, we have looked over $100,000,000 in travel for MOAA members.

Being selected as the travel agency for these prestigious national associations is a testament to our professionalism and trustworthiness. Our success in generating travel revenue is a testament to our marketing innovation and acumen.

During Brennco’s 37 years in business, we have become one of the leading leisure travel agencies in the country and have won over 100 awards during that time for service and sales achievement. These awards are from cruise lines, tour companies, association partners and consortiums such as TravelSavers, with whom we have been recognized as one of their Elite Agencies every year we have been a member. In October 2022 we received TravelSavers first ever Inspiration Award for our leadership in the return to travel post-Covid.

While proud of our past, we look to an even brighter future. Thank you for considering and becoming part of all the success that is to come.
